I can’t believe that such a ridiculous proposition has even got this far. I mean, in this day and age, with the current economic climate the way it is, we are supposed to be saving money and spending it wisely, not wasting all this money on a fad that isn’t need.
It’s fine for people to say that they are willing to use mobile technology as part of the learning and teaching process but has any thought been given to how? or why?
The cost and resource implications of such a project are horrendous! How are the kids going to access the resources on the go and more to the point - why? Not being funny but after a day at school I can’t see them logging in on the bus, and at this age they have far better things to be doing than syncing their mobile device with the school!
Just because the kids use it for their own personal use doesn’t automatically mean that they want to use it for school work. That’s a sure fire way of making a cool device very uncool! Looking up the latest cheat for a computer game or using it to talk to their friends on facebook, doesn’t mean that they will want to invite their school life into this world.

Technician/IT support
I can see that an IT technician might view this proposition as a 'help desk headache in the making' but kids know more about using their mobile phones than anything else, so I don't think it will be a big problem for the IT Dept. As for the kinds of educational activities that might be introduced so that the kids WANT to use their phones for their learning, well - that's up to the teachers to be creative and innovative, so you IT guys don't have to stress about that!
